Your diet and acne are linked!

TS Skin Care’s holistic approach to acne treats breakouts and problematic skin from the inside-out. Our team is dedicated to give you the tools and knowledge to pinpoint what is causing your break outs internally. We believe your gut health has the biggest impact on skin health. One of the biggest triggers for acne, pimples, and breakouts is the food we eat.

As a part of our customized 3-step acne treatment plan, your specialist works with you to prioritize your gut health and identify what foods can cause flare ups for you. We will ask you to make certain dietary modifications when you come in for your treatment.  Your specialist will work with you to make suggestions for alternatives so you can eliminate the foods that are causing your acne and help you choose substitutes that you will enjoy.

Going beyond common triggers

While our clients see significant improvements when cutting out the most common food triggers for acne like sugar, dairy, and hydrogenated oils, your aesthetician may recommend that you take a food sensitivity test to find out what foods your body has a harder time digesting. Everybody is different and can react to certain foods that may not be reactive for others. You may have a sensitivity to some foods you consume which can cause internal inflammation that comes out through your skin as pimples and breakouts!

Each food will be rated on a scale from normal reactivity to high reactivity. A higher reactivity level can mean that there’s a possibility that food can be giving you symptoms of food intolerances or food sensitivities. This test is not a food allergy test, nor can it determine lactose intolerance or celiac disease.

Or you can choose the comprehensive test that will test over 204 different foods. Your specialist will help you decipher and guide you through your results!

Gut health is skin health

Your gut and your skin

We know that there are many factors that play a role in acne–stress, hormones, sleep, etc. We have been doing this for a long time and know that food and acne are linked. The same coenzyme that is used by our bodies to metabolize our hormones is used to metabolize the dietary fats that we eat. When hormone production increases (as we see in teenagers or during our menstrual cycle) coenzyme A gets used to metabolize these hormones. When there is not enough coenzyme A to metabolize the dietary fats we consume in our diet, the body sends them to skin as the skin is the largest center of fat metabolism in the body.
